Gazing over the barbed wire fence.

Past the rolling meadows.

Through the overgrown tree line.

Beyond the dusty, gravel road.

My unblinking stare

penetrates the surrounding heavy haze.

Connecting in understanding with

the colorless, meaningless shadows.

Inches away you hover.

Watching your alienated offspring with ridicule.

A silent expanse between

blood bound strangers.

As if I am insane

for feeling and grieving.

Dense fog descending.

I stand frozen in the unseen scenery.
